Way back when I was pounding the pavements in New York City, I got rejected regularly by the Broadway folks (just never had those big belter chops), but I noticed that rock, folk and even some jazz folks didn’t mind my voice much at all. I felt comfortable with them, though I never considered myself anywhere near cool enough, and I certainly wasn’t any kind of a trained musician.

There was actually a time — just before I was to bag my first big acting gig — that I began plotting my escape from NYC to break into the music scene in LA. This was at the very dawn of MTV. Fate had other plans in mind, as it generally does, and dropped me off in the city of angels for entirely different reasons.

I don’t sing nearly often enough, and I chronically miss it, like you miss a dear old lifelong friend who lives too far away.
